Dr. Shengli Tao is an assistant professor at the Institute of Ecology, Peking University. His research focuses on ecological remote sensing, with an emphasis on using LiDAR and Radar to monitor the 3D dynamics of forests, cities, and water resources.
He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals such as Science, Nature Climate Change, PNAS, National Science Review, and Ecology. His work involves extensive collaboration with researchers from China, Europe, and the United States, and he has participated in international research projects funded by CNRS, CNES, the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Dr. Tao also co-led the 2022–2025 LiDAR Workshop for Forestry Applications in Beijing. His research achievements have been recognized by multiple national honors, including the First-Class Prize of Beijing Science and Technology (2021) and the Top 10 Scientific Breakthroughs in China's Ecological and Environmental Research (2024).
